FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Should i get a Manual or Auto licence?
I think it is better to get a manual licence even if you are going to drive an auto just in case you need it in the future but it depends on the person and their situation such as your family only has auto cars so you have no manual to practise in but really it is just a personal choice. Many people get their auto licence first and then at a later date when their driving and confidence has improved they upgrade to a manual licence.
Do i need to do the 100 hours again if i have an auto licence but want to get a manual licence?
No, as soon as you think you are ready for the test you can do it.
Can i start and finish a lesson in different places e.g. start from school and finish at home?
Yes, as long as it is in my area.
How long is the wait for my onroad driving test when i book it?
The wait is usually 4 to 8 weeks depending what time of year ( approaching Christmas is usually the busiest time ) so it is a good idea to book it when you think you are close to going for it. You can also change the booking 48 hrs before if you think you are not ready or can not make it.
Do I need to bring anything to my lesson?
Yes, you need your learner’s or provisional licence, and also your log book or log book app.
How do I obtain a learner’s licence?
You must pass a written test at a Department of Transport and Main Roads customer service centre, or a participating QGAP office. All the information you need to pass the test is in the official document “Your Keys to Driving in Queensland”. Information on the booklet and a practice test can be found here.
How much are your lessons?
